Atheism vs. Spirituality

I have come to the conclusion that for one to embrace atheism they have to destroy an important part of their psyche.

It seems that humanity has looked for the spiritual realms as long as is traceable.the atheist argue that they were simply trying to understand the world around them. I would argue that they were in many ways closer to the realm of the unknown than many can get in this technological day and age.Yes they were ignorant of truths we now take for granted, but why does that automatically mean they had nothing to offer? I believe you can live without spirituality, but why would you want to? Besides I feel that science is well on the way to at least proving that invisible realms do exist. One only has to open their minds to the possibility that we dont have all the answers.

  1. One only has to open their minds to the possibility ... indeed an open mind is a prerequisite to any real learning.
Failings of organised religion is so often an atheist argument for dismissing a spiritual real. It seems to me that they have it back to front. We should progress with an open mind:
    1) Is there anything metaphysical?
    2) If yes then is a supreme being within that realm likely?
    3) If yes how do we respond in our lives to that realisation?
If our response is to choose religion as a vehicle for our belief so be it.
